CDL Driver Jobs

On the front lines of the logistics industry are those who serve as the end point in the distribution process - namely, the captains, pilots, engineers and drivers who make deliveries of freight such as raw materials, unfinished inventory and finished goods. Opportunities for employment in logistics are varied, but CDL drivers - those holding a Commercial Drivers License - are the front line employees in the entire supply chain, logistics and distribution process. CDL driver jobs are alternately referred to as "trucking" or "truck driver" jobs, and involve making deliveries in an efficient manner via trucks with a gross vehicle weight rating, or GVWR, in excess of 26,001 lbs. More generally speaking, these vehicles are tractor trailers. The Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1986 is the governing statute that gives U.S. states the authority and right to issue commercial drivers licenses, but also places various federal requirements that all CDL drivers must meet. Those with a CDL are said to be qualified to drive commercial motor vehicles - or CMVs - and Longer Combination Vehicles (LCVs). There are also special testing and qualification requirements for various types of transportation jobs - these are referred to as "endorsements" and include a designation on the CDL license. Some such endorsements include N: Tank Truck, H: Hazardous Materials, X: Combination Tank Vehicle and Hazmat and T: Semi Trailer Double or Triple, to name just a few. At Locate Logistics Jobs, our narrow focus on the logistics and supply chain fields means that all employment opportunities posted to the site are related specifically to these fields. They range from CDL jobs to purchasing jobs and from logistics engineer positions to jobs for forklift operators. For CDL drivers, there are a vast number of career opportunities, including for those with Class A, Class B and Class C commercial drivers licenses. For employers, Locate Logistics Jobs offer the ability to easily, quickly and cost-effectively post CDL driver jobs and other job listings online to recruit top talent in the logistics and distribution fields.
